Ovarian cancer

Ovarian cancer shows lower rates of incidence as compared to other types of cancer affecting women (ranked 8th in incidence); however, it is fifth in causing cancer related deaths among women. The high mortality rates associated with this disease stem from the relative difficulty in detecting the disease at its early stages, when surgical removal of the affected ovary can be curative.

As the ovaries are located within the abdominal cavity, the disease may already be well-advanced before any symptoms are noticed. At the late stages of detection accurate treatment is critical and the patients cannot tolerate failing regimens.

For this reason, Oncotest – Advantest offers tests intended to diagnose women with an increased risk for the development of ovarian cancer – a risk which is often due to hereditary/familial syndromes, as well as a series of tests which allows for tailoring personalized and specific treatment.
